Donald Deskey was one of American Modern design's most famous names. He designed apartments for Adam Gimbel and John D. Rockefeller Jr., but his most famous commission was the Palace of American Art Deco - Radio City Music Hall. Deskey's commissions were executed by the Company of Mastercraftsmen and Schmieg & Kotzian. He also designed furniture for his own company, Deskey-Vollmer and Amodec. Some of his best designs were for Widdicomb Furniture Company of Grand Rapids in the 1930's.
(1894 – 1989) and made by the Company of Master Craftsmen (1926 – 1939), a subsidiary of W & J Sloan of New York. The tables are of red mahogany with chrome backed black finger pull handles. They could function as bedside tables or on either side of a sofa. Marked “Company of Master Craftsmen, Permo-Weld” and stamped “S 55021” and “D26772”, the side tables measure 15” wide x 14” deep and 22 ½” high.
