French Art Deco Railway Cote d'Azur Travel Poster by Roger
This brilliant French art deco travel poster was created in 1926 by Guillaume Georges Roger (1867-1942). The "A" condition poster depicts an idlyic harbor scene. Produced for the French railway system, the poster is framed in a seamless custom gold leaf frame and measures 42-1/2" x 30-1/4" and 47 x 35 overall. Produced by Lucien Serre & Cie, the poster is signed "Guillaume Roger 1926" in the stone.

McKnight Kauffer Poster
This stunning American Art Deco poster for war prisoner aid was created by Edward McKnight Kauffer (1890 – 1954). The poignant image of a captured GI behind barbed wire and the appeal “You Can Set Their Spirit Free” is poster making at its best. McKnight Kauffer was born in the United States, settled in England in 1914, started working in posters in 1921 and returned to New York in 1940. The framed poster measures 25” x 18”.

Toni-Kola Poster
This French art deco stone lithographic poster was created in 1935 by Robys. The aperitif wine "Toni-Kola" is captured by two Technicolor macaws. This large (78 3/4" x 51 1/4" poster is in excellent condition, framed and ready tohang. The poster is signed in the stone "Robys 35"

Cognac Rouyer French Art Deco Poster
This striking French art deco stone lithographic poster was created in 1945 for the Rouyer Guillet & Co., the manufacturers of Rouyer Cognac. The large (63" x 47") poster shows a silver deco winged figure atop a pink world guarding a bottle of the firm’s cognac. The starry sky behind her fades from cobalt to pale blue. The poster is in A condition and laid down on linen.

Emprunt National
A bold art deco stone lithographic poster by the French master Jean Carlu (1900 - ). Liberty holds her shield protecting a man plowing behind his ox and a factory. The emphasis is to buy government bonds. Printed by Lucien Serre & Cie., Paris, the poster measures 18" ½ x 15" ½ (framed) in black lacquer.

Solanis Poster
A very dramatic poster for Solanis who advertises himself as "Le Magicien Moderne" in very deco lettering. Against a black background this exuberant art deco poster shows the joy of French liberation...red, white and blue birds soar from the magician's top hat, blue red and yellow flowers spring out and the flags of the allies appear as a streamer. Designed by the artist George Condé who also designed figures for Saint-Clement in Lorraine. The poster is signed "Geo Condé 1945" The poster measures 37" x 24 1/2".

Willi's Wine Bar Poster
In 1935 the French art deco poster artist Adolphe Mouron Cassandre (1901-1961) created this striking image for an unknown beverage company. The image was not accepted. In 1984 Willi’s Wine Bar purchased the image from Cassandre’s Estate and used it for the first of their annual posters. The poster is printed on the bottom “© Henri Mouton, First Edition 1984, original printing”. The poster measures 39” x 27-1/2”. This is not a reproduction.

Airplane Poster
This Dutch art deco stone lithographic poster is the Nationale Luchtvaart School (National Flight School) and dates from the 1930’s. An airplane in shades of orange, gray and black is shown from an underneath in three quarters view giving a dramatic impression of speed. The poster measures 36” x 25 ½” and is framed in an ebonized frame measuring 43” x 33” overall.

Motorists Prefer Shell Poster
In 1935 Shell Oil’s publicity director Jack Beddington commissioned artist J.S. Anderson to create a stone lithographic poster for the “Prefer Shell” Series. Anderson responded with this image…one of pure graphic design and one of the most desirable of the whole Shell Oil Series. The poster measures 30” x 45” and is signed in the stone “Anderson 35”.

Original Gouache Painting for a Poster
An original American art deco design for a poster promoting posters in gouache. The painting is done in blue and red on a yellow ground and is signed C.L. Barber. Mercury, the messenger of the gods, promotes the idea that posers are “The Commercial Messenger”. The gouache measures 29” x 19 ½” and is presented in a gold frame.
