Donald Deskey AMODEC American Art Deco Bedside Table for Abraham & Straus
Donald Deskey (1894 – 1989) designed this American art deco bedside table for his own company AMODEC (American Modern Decoration Company) in 1931. The stand, in figured walnut veneers, has been refinished and the metal pulls on the drawer and door are replated in bright nickel. The table has the metal retailer’s tag inside the drawer reading “Abraham & Straus, Brooklyn, NY”. It is 17” wide x 13 ½” deep and 28” high.

PAIR GROSFELD HOUSE AMERICAN ART DECO END TABLES
This pair of 1940’s neoclassical American art deco side tables are from Grosfeld House, with their main office on East 47th Street in New York. Constructed of solid mahogany with ebony inlays, the tables have a faux ostrich leather inset and measure 22 ½” high and 21” in diameter. They have been refinished and are ready for the client.

Paul Frankl American Art Deco Cork and Mahogany Corner Table
Paul Frankl (1886 -1958) designed this rare two level corner table for the Johnson Furniture Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan and introduced it in their 1949 catalog. The table, with its two levels of natural cork veneer and angular supports and legs of solid mahogany, is in excellent condition. It is 28” high x 32” deep and 32” wide.

American Art Deco Streamline Occasional Table with Black Mirror Top
This striking round American art deco occasional table is from the 1930’s. Finished in mahogany and blond sycamore veneers, the table has a black mirror top and a bright nickel gallery and stretcher bar. The table has just been refinished and is 26” in diameter and 19” high.

Pair of Paul Frankl American Art Deco SPEED Chairs
Paul Frankl (1886 -1958) produced this extraordinary pair of American art deco “Speed” chairs in the early 1940’s for an important commission executed in La Jolla, California. The chairs are in excellent condition after almost 70 years, still retaining their original black faux leather and knit cotton upholstery. Each chair measures 35” wide, 43” deep and 23” high at the back.

PAUL FRANKL American Art Deco Cork Top Coffee Table or Bench
Paul Frankl (1886 – 1958) designed this sleek American art deco coffee table for the Johnson Furniture Company, Grand Rapids, Michigan and retailed by John Stuart, Inc. of New York and Grand Rapids and still retains the John Stuart tag. Introduced in their 1949 Catalog, the table, with natural cork veneer and open square mahogany legs can also function as a bench. The table measures 70” long, 21” wide and is 13 ¾” high.

DONALD DESKEY American Art Deco Vanity and Mirror for Widdicomb
Donald Deskey (1884 – 1989) designed this vanity and mirror for the Widdicomb Furniture Company of Grand Rapids ca. 1932. The vanity, which has been refinished in its original birds eye maple and green enamel, matches the mirror with its edge in the same green. The vanity is 48” wide x 18” deep and 24” high. The mirror is 38” in diameter.

American Art Deco Bootlegger's Mahogany Desk
This American art deco mahogany desk was custom built for a Midwestern bootlegger and speakeasy owner during Prohibition. The desk, which has been completely restored in high gloss lacquer has a two level top with scalloped columns on each end. The left hand column opens to reveal a bar, the right center pulls out for access to a filing cabinet with glass fronts and a pullout cash drawer. Measuring 92” across, 42” deep and 31” high, this desk made a statement in the 1930’s and will do so again today!

American Art Deco Display Case by The Weber Showcase & Fixture Company
This 1930’s American Art Deco Showcase was made by the Weber Showcase & Fixture Company, founded in Los Angeles, California in 1923 by Karl Weber. The blond wood case rests on an ebonized plinth below three drawers. The rectangular felt lined box, with glass on top, front and sides it has sliding glass doors on the back. The display box is supported by three brushed aluminum legs of an elongated “C” shape which fit into a cylinder of matching wood. The fixture measures 51” wide x 20” deep and 40” high.

WOLFGANG HOFFMAN American Art Deco End Table
This American art deco occasional table was designed in the mid 1930’s by Wolfgang Hoffman 1900 – 1969 for the Howell Company of St. Charles, Illinois. Constructed of chromed flat band steel and high gloss black lacquered wood, this demi-lune table is a useful, functional piece of deco sculpture. The table is 25” wide x 12 ½” deep and 22” high.
