This French art deco stone lithographic poster was created by G. Favre for Affiches Gaillard. Dated 1933 this poster for Le Nouveau Journal shows the paper covering France (and a good bit of Europe and Russia) with their slogan “The Great Modern Voice of Information”. The poster measures 36” x 28”.

SOLD Liquor-Medoc Poster

This French art deco stone lithographic poster by Henri Lemonnier was published and printed in 1938 by Bedos & Cie. In Paris. The Bordeaux liqueur was advertised as "The Liquor that Gladdens the Heart" and this theme is illustrated by a happily inebriated clown composed of yellow and orange hearts clutching a bottle of the liquor against a blue and green background. The poster measures 62" x 46".

A French art deco stone lithographic poster by Marcel Feguide (1888 – 1968) for Aix-en-Provence. The poster, showing the town at sunset with the region’s famous tapered cypress trees, advertises the town’s curative waters as well as the Municipal Casino, open from November to May. The poster, which was printed by Moullot, Marseille in 1928 measures 50” x 35 ½”.

SOLD PHI Jazz Poster

This vintage French art deco stone lithographic poster from the 1930’s depicts a band leader and radio microphone in front of a jazz orchestra. The design in black, pale red and yellow flows with movement…you can almost hear the music. Signed in the plate by the artist “PHI”, the poster was printed by Affiches Nerfi in Lille, France. The poster measures 31 ½” by 24 ¾”.

SOLD Favre Cycles Motos Labor Poster

G. Favre created this French art deco motorcycle poster for Labor Cycles & Motos ca. 1930. The firm, which made bicycles and motorcycles, advertises the fact with an abstract train made of their two products (cycles motos) passing over a bridge supported by their company name. The train puffs smoke in the form of laurel leaves, symbol of champions, to further their motto "For the Champions and Riders". A realistic picture of one of their motorcycles against a red background dominates the lower quarter of the poster. The small circle shows a line drawing of, again, a train passing over a bridge with a bicycle underneath. The poster measures 45" x 30". Presented in a black lacquer frame and measuring overall 50" x 34".

This vintage French art deco stone lithographic poster for Monsoleil wine shows the sun tilting a bottle of the firm's wine to its lips while wearing a straw hat. The poster is signed in the plate by the artist "Robys" and was produced by Avenir-Publicite in St. Etienne. This large poster measures 61" x 45".

G. Favre created this French art deco poster for the bottled water company Source Parot in the late 1920s. Taking the firm's symbol of an ancient sea monster he transformed it into a green geometric one on a blue background holding the company's bottle in its mouth. The poster measures 63" x 47". The poster was produced by Creation Affiches Gaillard in Paris & Amiens.

SOLD Jean Dupas Bordeaux Poster

This, arguably the most famous of Jean Dupasâ (1882-1964) French art deco posters, was created for the 1937 Exhibition and promotes his native Bordeaux. Subtitled "Son Port' Ses Monuments, Ses Vins" (Our Port, Its Architecture, Its Wines), the image is of a nude holding a column of grapes supporting a sailing ship with her right hand and a column of buildings supporting a modern ship. The poster was printed in 1937 by Rousseau Freres, Bordeaux and measures 39" x 24" and is elegantly presented in a custom black and silver frame.

SOLD Colin Transatlantique Poster

Paul Colin (1892 - 1985) created some of the French art deco era's most memorable posters but this is one of the most famous and enduring. For the French Line, Cie. Gle. Transatlantique he chose the French liner Normandy sailing against the French tri-color flag on an emerald sea. First made in 1937, the poster was reprinted by the company several times between 1937 and 1954. This is from the 1952 edition. The poster measures 38" x 24".
